In my college 3rd year, I started with Windows programming. Earlier using Visual Basic and then C#. Plus, I had access to internet at home now, so could go through forums and projects of other programmers through the internet. I was able to develop simple websites and MusCom, a music composition software. But I was still naïve, I did not have any mentors to guide, my college was still new so no seniors to guide me. Although, I finally made friends and was more confident socially. And I was finally valued as a programmer. And I developed a love for taking long walks. And exploring things in practice. Still played football and wrote poetry. Eventually, I got a job in Wipro and was off to Chennai.
It was a new city, new people and for the first time I was on my own. Naively, I was not much concerned. In Chennai, I was for about 6 months, it was training. So, much of the stuff I was comfortable. It was Java, but that did not matter apparently. I got a much better idea about OOPS concepts, but still not much in practice. And once I cleared my training, I got my first client project in Bangalore.
From the memoir I am writing, one chapter at a time.
