With That Elegance

With that elegance, she stood There at some distance, beautiful The way she talked to her friend; With something in that smile That caught me still.

What could have been that charm? I know not, just stood there Numb to everything, As I gave in to that splendor, Bestowed by the sunlight shining on her hair.

There lay some magic hidden in those eyes, So beautiful, so innocent as they looked at me, For a moment, a moment that lingered on a long time; A long time before I realized what had gone, Leaving behind a desire, a hope.
